Starting January 2021, Russia will Apply E-Visa
a country that is a destination for many prospective medical and engineering students, is now open to foreign tourists armed with an e-visa. This decree takes effect from January 1, 2021. Reporting from Russia Beyond, the Lower House of the Russian Parliament (Duma) has passed the relevant law on Tuesday (23/6).
Previously, foreign travelers from 53 countries had been able to use an e-visa to visit St. Petersburg, Kaliningrad, and the Far East Federal District, since mid-2019. Next year, you will be able to visit any city in Russia with an e-visa, without having to apply for a visa to the consulate.
You can apply for an e-visa via the website of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The process will not take more than 4 days (including holidays). If approved, a single entry e-visa will be sent an email visa and valid for up to 60 days. However, you cannot stay in Russia for more than 16 days with an e-visa.
So, what about the price? Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Evgeny Ivanov told Russia Beyond that the e-visa costs no more than $50 and is free for children under 6 years old.
